Tabouli ..and the Master Cleanse

I am on Day 2 of the Master Cleanse - which is drinking just squeezed lemon, with cayenne and maple syrup or sugar cane juice. Sugar cane juice is raw - they press the sugar canes to make fresh juice in lots of places in Little India and Chinatown - but maple syrup tastes great, so I'm wavering. I started with using some raw honey but Stanley Burroughs is really against it - and makes quite an argument for using the maple syrup or cane juice ....

So, why am I posting the pic of food above?? hmm.. well, I guess you're probably not doing a cleanse. This was a dinner my mom & Daniella and I had a few days ago. It was really good - but Mom made most of it & its really special and extra delicious to eat food made by her. We had a big salad, sandwiches with our soon-to-be-famous Earth Bread ; ), sun-dried tomato sunflower pate- the best base for sprouts, and the most delicious huge organic tomato slices.
I love that almost everything I eat is organic now!
A store opened up close to work and I almost walk past it on my way to work - The Sweet Potato, which is all organic - & carries lots of amazing produce - and so many great things - lots of Raw supplies!
However for the past few days I am just buying lemons there.

& All of that amazing food in my fridge - Mom & I bought this little organic watermelon. I have so much amazing food in my fridge - but I woke up the other morning just knowing I had to start a cleanse - the moment I opened my eyes - decision made!
So I cut up all those beautiful mangoes, my fav ataulfo's - and put them in the freezer - that was the hardest this eve - I love mangoes!! ..and gave away my sprouts - and will find a good home for the rest of the produce.

Sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do - get cleaned up!
(& I have a big weekend coming up in 2 weeks and decided I could get it in before and to get ready for that ! )

So I was going to come and write a post about tabouli.
& I haven't even mentioned it yet - and almost out of time (movie will not wait any longer)

It's one of Mom's and my favorite recipes that we have been making since we started raw - Its adapted from a recipe by Storm. Basically it goes like this:

Tabouli

1 bunch Parsley - chopped
1 bunch Cilantro - chopped
1 bunch Green Onions - chopped
1 Tomato - chopped
1 Avocado - chopped
a small handful of Almonds which have been soaked, dried and processed fairly fine

Dressing:
2 T Olive oil
1 Lemon - juiced
1 T Honey
1 Garlic clove - minced
1 t Salt
& Cayenne to taste

Mix all salad ingredients in a bowl. Stir the dressing ingredients together in a bowl. Pour over salad and stir well to coat. Let sit for an hour for flavours to blend and for greens to soften slightly. It's so delicious!! .. and it keeps well for the next day covered in the fridge.

And if you haven't already, sign up for Jinjee's Daily Raw Inspiration e-mail newsletter from The Garden Diet website! It's wonderful and inspired and real filled with lots of great information, love, family, health, motivation and inspiration. All great things.

Hi Daniela, nice to meet you.
I really like the master cleanse - have done it a few times, but never more than 14 days - usually 10.
so far so good - even though my closest friends are tempting me, drinking hot choc in front of me, getting me to cut up fruit (for a meeting earlier tonight - & watermelon too, also one of my favs!)
But there will be lots of time to eat again - and you really appreciate it much more after!
So far so good!

Anon, I haven't set anything up to subscribe yet - I have heard about the RSS feeds but haven't really looked into it (or other delivery service) yet. Thanks for the offer to subscribe tho! : ) One day!

Hey Michelle!
The Master Cleanse basically removes toxins from the body and helps it to function better. I think I will write more about it in a post soon.

re: the Earth bread - interesting that you should ask as it came up at a meeting tonight & it looks at the moment like it may be getting shelved - temporarily - It's something that is very close to a friend of mine, Marie, who originally created it, I just helped her develop it at Toronto Sprouts. It's awesome and one day will hopefully be available to everyone!! & cookies too!!!
; )
I am really excited and happy for you to go on Sergei's hiking excursion - You will learn so much about wildcrafting!!
Sergei's great - I would love to join you & I am sure you will love it! Looking forward to hearing all about it!!
Much love! R
