Pachamama, dulse, irish moss, raw catering by Elaina Love

I am looking up Pachamama – an Earth Mother, whom Erika was talking about in her workshop. I have a list of things I want to look up and 20 min to write this blog (gotta have a time limit, yk how it is) ..but now I am in prophecykeppers radio & there is a recording of the 10 point message. ‘Know your garden’, garden being our land, the Earth - is one of the 10 points. This might be important, it’s 17 min long. Am going for it.

(It was all about this womans experiences & I didn’t get the 10 point message that I was looking for.)

Pachamama (pronounced Pawch-mama) or Mama Pacha, is the Earth Mother of the Incans of South America. She lives inside the earth and is a companion to women. The mountain peaks are seen as her breasts, the flowing rivers, her life-giving milk, and the tilled fields, her fertile womb.

Mama Pacha or Pachamama is a dragoness fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting. Her husband is either Pacha Camac or Inti, depending on the source. Catholic conquest replaced her image with Virgin Mary with which she is identified in some parts of Peru.

Peru - Pachamama Raymi or Earth Mother Day / 1st August

On this day, the following festivals takes place: Pachamamaraymi in the District of Ccatca, Wataqallariy in the District of Maras, and Kinturaymi in Huasao in the District of Oropesa. This is an Andean ritual that worships and gives tribute to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) in a special ceremony called “payment to the earth” with offerings of coca leaves, chicha de jora, and huayruro seeds (mystical jungle seeds). The rite marks the beginning of the Andean New Year.

Erika orders dulse & sea vegetables from: http://www.rolandsdulse.com/
It comes from Grand Manan, NB
She said the dulse comes so soft, it is delicious and nothing like the harder stuff we get in packages from groc & health food stores here.

Dulse is a sea vegetable, grown at low tide and which takes root on rocks. It is harvested by hand and sun dried on a drying ground made especially for drying dulse.
Dulse is grown in several areas, but the dulse grown on Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada is the most delicious and sought after.

Looking at their price list. They have irish moss. Marie was talking about that. Matt Samuelson prepared food for David Wolfe’s birthday party. She said she had the best dessert ever & he used irish moss in it.
