Lakes and the Spirit of the Universe

"Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake."
~Wallace Stevens

This quote and pic was sent to me by a special friend and made me so happy.. it just sent back memories of my chldhood and past. I grew up in a house that was right across the street from Jones lake (my Mom still lives there) and I remember always hearing "We're going for a walk around the lake" It was an everyday event.. Either Mom & Dad together or taking the dog around. I spent a lot of time around that lake, watching ducks, climbing trees, hanging out. ..sometimes I walked and sometimes I ran.

"My desire for knowledge is intermittent; but my desire to commune with the spirit of the universe, to be intoxicated with the fumes, call it, of that divine nectar, to bear my head through atmospheres and over heights unknown to my feet, is perennial and constant."
~Henry David Thoreau

Dear Robin, one phrase in Sunday's blog is incomplete. When you wrote about spending time by the lake you wrote "sometimes I walked, sometimes I ran.." but you forgot " sometimes I flew.... ' you could also have added " one time I crashed and had to be carried home by my Dad with part of a tree in my leg.

Love from your Mom
