Dr Vandana Shiva

Dr. Vandana Shiva is speaking at the Total Health Show (Toronto, ON) in April 2009 on protecting our seed, food and water "Our Planet: Ecology & Conservation vs. Corporate Globalization".

Many of us suffer from diseases that could be eliminated easily with better food based on organic and traditional farming practices.”~ Vandana Shiva, PhD

Bio: Vandana Shiva is a world-renowned environmental leader and thinker. Before becoming an activist, Dr. Shiva was one of India’s leading physicists. She holds a master’s degree in the philosophy of science and a PhD in particle physics (UWO). Dr. Shiva, along with Ralph Nader and Jeremy Rifkin, is a leader in the International Forum on Globalization. She is Director of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Ecology and founder of Navdanya (“nine seeds”), a movement promoting diversity and use of native seeds. In 1993, Dr. Shiva won the Alternative Nobel Peace Prize. She is the author of many books, including Soil Not Oil, Water Wars: Pollution, Profits, and Privatization, and Biopiracy: The Plunder of Nature and Knowledge.

Vandana Shiva has started a Seed Satyagraha - nonviolent non-cooperation around seed laws - has gotten millions of farmers to sign a pledge to break those laws.~

...And we fight on three fronts–water, food, and seed.

American farmers and cattlemen might appreciate what Gandhi fought for and what Shiva is bringing back and working for, the return of our - loss of basic freedoms.

The Seed Satyagraha is the name for the nonviolent, noncooperative movement that Dr. Shiva has organized to stand against seed monopolies.
The creative side of saving seeds, trading seeds, farming without corporate dependence–without their chemicals, without their seed

‘We will do our thing and any law that tries to say that (our freedom) is illegal… we will have to not cooperate with it. We will defend our freedoms to have access to water, access to seed, access to food, access to medicine.”
"Vandana Shiva is one of the leading anti-Monsanto people in the world."

Vandana Shiva you are my hero!! I am so outraged at what Monsanto has done in India and around the world. I love what you say..."we will do our thing and any law that tries to say that our freedom is illegal...we will not cooperate with it." That is so courageous and so awesome and so right on! We must ALL defend EVERYONE's freedoms to have access to water, access to seed, access to food and medicine. I am there with you!

ps And again Robin, thanks for posting such awesome info. How in the world do you find all of these cool things you find?

Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment.

Industrial Society is destroying necessary things [Animals, Trees, Air, Water and Land] for making unnecessary things [consumer goods].

"Growth Rate" - "Economy Rate" - "GDP"

These are figures of "Ecocide".
These are figures of "crimes against Nature".
These are figures of "destruction of Ecosystems".
These are figures of "Insanity, Abnormality and Criminality".

The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues.

The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature [Animals, Trees, Air, Water and Land].

Chief Seattle of the Indian Tribe had warned the destroyers of ecosystems way back in 1854 :

Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you realize that you cannot eat money.
