Update

Hello. It was another Rawlicious day. Today was clean up day.. we got new windows installed yesterday..how exciting, the brown paper came off for awhile. It'll go back up, but not for long.. tentative date is now Sat, April 5 (good numerology date) but I will keep you posted, it's not definite yet. Oh & at home we accepted an offer on our house, so it looks like closing for that will be the end of April.. it's going to be a busy month. I am not sure where I am moving to yet.

ok, so I kind of missed the pic, but check this out.. cute kids - 2 daycare groups holding ropes and crossing each other and I didn't get my camera out until they passed.. its probably a common occurance, but I just got to see whats going on out the windows.. sorry Trac for the candid shot, we were cleaning around the windows..

Tea and pumpkin pie.. last time I had the flavour perfect, this time I had the texture, next time I'm going to put it all together (change it all around) and get it perfect. I am determined to make a pumpkin pie that will rival (& beat) any cooked one. I still don't have that one down (close, but...) .. it's my big challenge.

Mathieu (ChocoSol) at the Market. Have I mentioned that this is the best chocolate in the world?

They sell Scott's products also - his Buckwheat sprouts, Granola and his most delectable raw Coconut cakes!! We Love these!

Sweet Dreams.. I am deleriously tired, been up late working - oh my hard drive crashed last night - I recovered a lot of it but have some catching up to do. Thats whats on my agenda. ..but maybe tomorrow morning, I need sleep.. beautiful, beautiful sleep 'night. sweet dreams...

Psychosomatic wellness

Wellness that is being allowed, or the wellness that is being denied, is all about the mindset, the mood, the attitude, the practiced thoughts. There is not one exception, in any human or beast; because, you can patch them up again and again, and they will just find another way of reverting back to the natural rhythm of their mind. Treating the body really is about treating the mind. It is all psychosomatic. Every bit of it, no exceptions.

Truth, Magic, Fun and Miracles

" Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth." ~ Albert Einstein

"We think, sometimes, there’s not a dragon left. Not one brave knight, not a single princess gliding through secret forests ... What a pleasure to be wrong. Princesses, knights, enchantments and dragons, mystery and adventure ... not only are they here-and-now, they’re all that ever lived on earth! Masters of reality still meet us in dreams to tell us that we’ve never lost the shield we need against dragons, that blue-fire voltage arcs through us now to change our world as we wish. Intuition whispers true: We’re not dust, we’re magic!" -- Richard Bach

"There are only two ways to live your life: One is as though nothing is a miracle, The other is as though everything is a miracle. I believe in the latter." ~Albert Einstein

It only seems that there is something more important for you to do than to just quietly be yourself.” ~Guy Finley

"When our attitude is open, we can have fun with what the world presents" ~Sakyong Mipham

He who is really kind can never be unhappy;
He who is really wise can never be confused;
He who is really brave is never afraid.

- Confucius

“Life is an adventure. Never allow yourself to be bored. Spend every moment fully alive. Appreciate everything. Never stop growing and learning. The mysteries and wonder of life are expansive and never ending. Enjoy every moment.” ~David Wolfe

A Happy Creative Easter

"For those who are intrigued by the multiplicity
of reality
and the unique possibilities of their
own vision, the creative
is the path they must
pursue"

Creating art and creating ourselves are the same
act; art,
world, ourselves .. these are continuous
with one another"

Rawlicious - Food Experimentation Day

The sign is being made - That's a good sign! )

It's getting more & more comfy all the time.

Me in the kitchen

I brought in some dishes I was experimnting with at home: left - a Thai cucumber salad, along the top, the favorites - Mexican Rice and Jamaican Coconut, Rice and Peas, Right - Greek Dolmas - I tried grape leaves but they are tough without cooking them, so I rewrapped in soft Boston lettuce leaves for us for lunch. I'll try again another time. Bottom is a Fennel and Orange Salad and in the middle a tropical salad mixture which needed sprouted quinoa but we just ate it as is. But the rice dishes (raw rice made from parsnips) were the real hits.

Making spring rolls

They were really good!

This dish - Miso soup was so amazing! It was made with the kelp noodles I just ordered recently.

I also got in mixed sea vegetables and this is a noodle dish using those with Indian spices - curry & cumin etc -Spicy - it turned out really well too!

Fred came to visit and brought lots of chocolate.
What a delicious finale!!

Blessing for Work

BLESSING FOR WORK

May the light of your soul bless your work
with love and warmth of heart.

May you see in what you do the beauty of your soul.

May the sacredness of your work bring light and renewal
to those who work with you
and to those who see and receive your work.

May your work never exhaust you.

May it release wellsprings of refreshment,
inspiration, and excitement.

May you never become lost in bland absences.

May the day never burden.

May dawn find hope in your heart,
approaching your new day with dreams,
possibilities, and promises.

May evening find you gracious and fulfilled.

May you go into the night blessed,
sheltered, and protected.

May your soul calm, console, and renew you.

Snatam Kaur - Celebrate Peace Concert

It has been a very intense and deep weekend. There have been 2 deaths this weekend which have affected me and very close friends and family. My Love goes out to you.

I went to the Holistic Health Expo yesterday and last night Mi-San and I went to the Snatam Kaur concert. Rawlicious Tracy & friend Janet had tickets also & sat with us. It was such a beautiful, emotional concert- she is such a high-vibrational spiritual presence. The audience sang, meditated (for Peace), did breathing exercises and when she had all the children go to the front for one song and had them do hand gestures for the song the audience followed suit and by the end of the song we were all standing.. there was a standing ovation for her and her group at the and. Actually it was interesting after the first song there was a lull of almost a minute before people started clapping - it was that deep.

"Her music is another bridge between the traditions and cultures of East and West. Snatam Kaur brilliantly interfaces Gurbani Keertan, the Sikh style of religious music, and the western classical and popular styles in her music and concerts. Snatam is popularizing her own unique style, rhythms, musical arrangements, and is introducing the Sikh sacred music to global audiences. Her music transcends traditional musical familiarities and frontiers, reaches deep into our soul where Gurmukhi, the language of Sikh scriptures, offers no formidable threshold that our spirit cannot cross or joyfully embrace." from here.

The Best Foods Ever - Colourful, Worldly and Spicy Inspiration and Experiments

This afternoon I went grocery shopping while realtors were showing my home. It's so awesome to feel great about everything you put in the cart. It all looked so good sitting there in the cart, it was beautiful unloading it at the check out.. and beautiful again carrying it home in those reusable cloth bags with all the green stuff sticking out of the top - almost as good as carrying flowers home and then it looked great again unpacking it. This is really feel-good food, so colourful, so inspiring, so full of life - that's real soul food - nourishing on a much deeper level than just the physical.

This grocery trip was really inspired by my lists of recipe experiments just waiting to be tested. Note the one thing not raw in my pile - the rice paper wrappers. I have been really wanting to create an amazing spring roll and try these. I have 2 amazing dipping sauces just waiting for a good spring roll. But I also bought some Boston lettuce, which is soft and might work also as a wrapper.. I am not sure about if Rawlicious would have a spring roll in a rice paper wrapper ..maybe considering the inside is all raw & the dipping sauce..hmm.. but I have a need to try these anyway, just for fun.

Yesterday I spent the day at Rawlicious - it was salad dressing day. We now have a House dressing, Tahini-Miso, Ginger-Date, Poppyseed and a Balsamic Vinaigrette, as well as our becoming famous Caesar Dressing.. & On the way home I went to the Market -Thursdays are Dufferin Grove market days. These are some of my favorite things from there: fresh-pressed that day apple cider, honey (Bee Universe) from a guy who loves his bees, fresh sprouts (Toronto Sprouts, of course!) & my favorite favorite ........ Chocolate!!! Nibs, the most amazing Tehate and a new flavour which I think will make an incredibly smooth and creamy hot choc - Seedy Trinity, with hemp and sesame seeds. Mmm..

& This last pic is of one of my experiments just an hour ago - Eggplant Mexican Patties and Carribean Patties. They are in the dehydrator right now.
About 15 years ago, when the kids were all little, our family moved to New Brunswick, where I am from. We lived there for 3 years and then moved back to Toronto. When we moved, I was eating cooked food at the time and really missed some of the things I was used to eating here in Toronto, especially warm Italian bread from the bakery and Jamaican beef patties. (I know, maybe I shouldn't even be admitting that on here, but thats the way it was.. ) At the time the patties were not even heard of there, while in Toronto they were available at almost every corner store. So, 15 years ago I set my mind to creating these patties and came very close to recreating the actual thing. & now, although I am wayy over wanting bread or beef or patties, I still do love spices! ..and recreating things & I have been inspired again.

So today I came up with spice mixtures I had been thinking about for awhile - a Mexican blend, a Caribbean Curry blend (from that original patty recipe) and Jerk seasoning blend. I used those first 2 seasoning mixes on my experiment today and have the Jerk mixture waiting for something else-I think a sauce marinade for dehydrating vegetables in. ..maybe tomorrow.

We just brought down a few appliances and food and started making a few things..but only a bit. The kitchen isn't quite ready yet.
