Color Theory, wheatgrass & cayenne, Urantia, Chocosol

Things going on in my life and changing my perception of the world around me:

The biggie: Conversations with Horace about color. hmm, how to explain this one. I had a hard time with it.. it's like I know what he was saying but couldn't really accept it because if I accept this thought it is going to change everything else I know and believe about reality. Every time you accept another truth it changes everything else.. because everything is connected.

(Like going raw.. I am the same person but I am completely different. Everything has changed)

& once you learn and accept something there is no going back.

but if someone is telling you something and you don't want to deal or accept it, your brain can somehow just shut off, tune it out.. this happens very often.. I know I must have done this a lot. I see people doing it all the time. Like the brain is saying "Can't handle, can't handle, change the channel"

ok, It started with him telling me how if you mix blue and yellow, you are not getting another color.. its still blue and yellow. It looks green but it is still the blue and yellow there.. they have not gone anywhere. Every color is contained in every other color.. and it is the light and how it reflects off the pigment which gives us the colors. and actually it is not even the (say paint) that has the color.. everything is grey really, colorless.. color is only formulated in our brains. That's why some people are colorblind, the brain is not perceiving color the same way as most people.. something in the brain is different and therefor their perception is different. In fact, I have no way of knowing what color you are seeing.. I only know what color I see.. we could all see a different color, we don't know exactly what is going on in someone elses head.. we know that we agree on red & blue.

Think about color on another level. can you describe the color red? or blue? you can't.. you can draw associations but that could be anything.. if I was blind you couldn't tell me what a color looks like. These things are not real.. not material. Like beauty.. you can't describe beauty either.. it's something in the head, its a thought, an essence.. it is not real. I mean no it is Real, but its not material. Sometimes its hard explaining concepts..

I struggled sometimes with the color one.. I had to let it go.. I felt myself losing my mind.. it was like thinking of infinity. Thats why sometimes scientists go crazy ..thinking on things too much.
and all in all it doesn't really matter. It's not going to change my perception of green or beauty.. it is just a way of entertaining my mind I guess..
& sometimes I feel like I have no choice.. its who I am, it's destiny, what i need to do. I need to et this & I need to come tell you for some reason.
Horace said that he often comes in & says to himself that he is not going to tell me things. Because he always comes in & tells me so much. I got called into the office by Zara (to save me) the other day. Everyone went, are you all right?? He can really get into it.. Simon says 'Horace comes in every day for wheat grass but its really to talk to you, he doesn't even like wheat grass." & burst out laughing.. Horace is the best, hes a great friend now. & he says he never talks like this to other people, tries not to me.. but for some reason when he comes in it just all comes out. And maybe there is someone out there who needs this information.
& go figure they would find it on a raw food blog???

oh yeah, and i should really be talking about food & health.
ok, heres a good one.. a few days ago this guy comes in & asks for 2 ounces of wheatgrass. Then when its sitting there he asks if i ave any cayenne. I bring over my big shaker of it. He asks for a spoon.. then he takes off the cover, puts a huge heaping teaspoon of cayenne on top of the wheatgrass ..it was actually last Friday, he said it had been a long week and he needed some energy. & then he downed it. he said if you can drink it in one gulp the cayenne can bypass the mouth and go right down & then its ok. I think he missed a bit.. but he didn't even have water after.. just glazed over & went & laid back for 15-20 min on the couch. Then he was gone..that was the most amazing thing I had seen in awhile. I wonder how he felt after.. I wonder if I am ever going to try it.

I am excited today.. yesterday someone said they had a Urantia book and asked if I would like it. & said they would bring it in today. I have been really wanting one of those!

& Chocosol party tonight, opening of the Cacao Loft on St Joseph st. Graham came in yesterday.. 1st time I have seen him since he left for Mexico - 1/2 a year ago. They made their 1st batch of chocolate in their new kitchen yesterday.. the Chocosol chocolate draught is over!!! Yay!
Wishing you all a perception altering day! Those are really good ones!

Being, Anne Wigmore, wheatgrass, The Real News, Flower chocolates, Swedish and Video lessons

Favorite recent memories:

the big line-up at work.. I'm the only one on the floor & I apologize to the man who is standing next and he says calmly "I'm not waiting, I'm just being" (...he got that from the Power of Now, gotta love that book! : ) I appreciated that immensely.

Anne Wigore used to drink up to 64 ozs of wheatgrass a day! That's a lot of wheatgrass!!! She was really into experimenting with her body. Often she would go through the day eating only 1/2 a papaya, a bit of her energy soup and wheatgrass.. and have lots of energy. She founded the Hippocrates Health Institute and is considered The mother of living foods. (more on her from a past post here)

I spoke to a man who said that his eyesight was healed after drinking 2ozs of wheatgrass a day, every day - 5 months after starting this, he realized that he didn't need his glasses anymore to read things and he was amazed at how it was healing his body.

..a waterarian

The picture I missed & have to share verbally. The Real News.com - who reside on the 2nd floor of our building, right above us.. and who I know best from asking us to turn the music down, lol - they were preparing for a party and in our kitchen at work preparing fruit platters and I was still working..

I was juicing wheatgrass for a customer amidst piles and piles of fruit prepared to go on trays covering the whole counter and I barely just uncovered the wheatgrass juicer to make this juice: baby finger bananas, cherries, melons, grapes, grapefruit, oranges, lemons and limes cut up, strawberries, other berries, pineapple etc & etc.. it was beautiful! fruit everywhere!.. enough for about 300 people!!

The small pic I took is from their reception - launching party.. it didn't turn out great, but it's all I have.. you can barely see, or not, Paul Jay, the executive director, CEO. You can see an interview with him, see the space and the concept - it's pretty huge - a tv network with no gov't funding, no corporate funding, no advertising - The Real News. I recommend watching.. if I was going to watch the news, I think I would watch it here. Maybe one day I will.

Making flower chocolates - the best tasting, soothest and creamiest ones ever! Raw cacao, hemp butter, cocoa butter, agave, vanilla, maca, ginseng, slippery elm, a bit of maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon and Celtic salt. Mmmm.. these are going quick!

Flowers on flowers, my painting above, the backdrop flowers is a painting I was up till 1:30 last night working on & am heading back down soon to work on more.. along with my white flower (which is anything but white! and my new weeks flower) .. g2g going!!! ...

random Swedish lesson: "bytt e bytt a det koer aldrig er igen" translates something like trading something with someone and you got something really magical and the best trade ever. : )

video lesson: Room tone - take 60 sec- 2 min of average room sounds of space after taping, to use to edit into sounds if needed.

Be Happy

Mercury retrograde, Superfood Chcolates and my new Camera!

Let me start off this post by telling you that mercury is going into retrograde soon.

June 15 - July 9

I've posted about mercury retrograde, so I won't get into it too much, except to say that it is a strong phenomenon in the sky that happens about 3 times a year. ..and whenever I say 'O, it's mercury retrograde' people kind of look at me like I'm an alien. But it really is something that you can feel.. and I don't think I am special & feel it more than others.. it's just that I know about it & know the signs to pick up on. I can tell it's happening almost exactly 2 weeks before it takes effect. ..which makes sense.. it's not like it just goes from spinning forward to backwards the next.. it takes a bit of time to slow down, come to a stop and start rotating the opposite way.
So what happens.. things screw up!
like my brother doesn't send me the cables to the videocamera, then he does but not with the cd that goes with it.. I can't get the driver downloaded, ..I lost my cacao butter.. and had everything out last night to make chocolates. I substituted hemp & coconut butter, but the whole reason I was getting everything out was to experiment with the cacao butter. I still have no idea where it went to.
But, OMG, these are really good!
I'm eating them for breakfast.. Mmmmm
Made with raw cacao, hemp & coconut butter, agave, raw organic powdered vanilla, maca, reishi, ginseng, camu camu and dash celtic salt.
& they are so pretty.. put them in a flower mold I had & put them in the fridge overnight & just pressed them out this morning.

Hey, I got a camera this weekend!!! soon I can take pics! yay, I'm excited.
However, it's still in the box, because my daughter who went to buy it for me picked out the one next to the one I was thinking I wanted & had mentioned to her (they were the same price) easy mistake - & hey, mercury!
Now I am trying to figure out if I want this one anyway, instead.
It's really nice too.. I spent 2 hours on the internet comparing, reading photography forums.. I can't decide.. they both have good features..

It's this Canon Powershot SD800 IS

(the one I wanted) vs the Canon Powershot S3 I3 (the one Kaiya picked out) and the one I think I will end up with.

I was thinking of just a little point & shoot compact camera.. but now I am getting used to the idea of a bigger one.. and they are just coming out with an S5 IS.. which is really nice also! Ahhh.. decisions, decisions.. & maybe I should just accept the gift & not spend so much time deciding. (I think it's mercury that makes me skeptical.. bad time to make decisions.. everything is so screwy & decision making skills are at a low!)

anyway, one day I will have my own photos & videos to post.
Astrologyzone has a great mercury retrograde link, describes the effects it has on us really well!

Mercury pic from http://www.stp.isas.jaxa.jp/mercury/images/Mercury_mag.jpg
Camera photos from www.dpreview.com - which is a great site for cameras.. the girl at Blacks recommeded it, they do side by side comparisons.. it didn't really help me, but it's cool & helpful.

Raw foods - unique flavours - cacao tasting, the 720 experiment

One thing to bear in mind when making raw recipes is that duplicating these recipes is not as easy as with the conventional cooked foods that we are used to. Each time you make something it will taste slightly different.

Often with cooked foods, for one.. many of the ingredients are processed and always taste the same.. if they are not artificial ingredients, chemical substances, then they are often bleached out - flour, sugar.. and at the very least, if you are using fresh vegetables, like in a soup for instance, the flavour is cooked out & reintroduced with flavourings, which are again often chemical flavourings. Not always.. and the fresher and more organic and the amount a food is cooked are all factors.

A perfect example of this is the cacao bean. I was really interested in this.. Michael (Chocosol) gets beans from different growers and different harvests. These and different fermentation processes make a big difference in flavour. He was telling me yesterday all the things which can change the flavour of the beans:
- different trees growing alongside the the cacao trees, different crops: ie: bananas, coffee, cinnamon.
-type of soil
-altitude
-genetic diversity in the parcel of land
-ambient temperature during fermentation
-quantity of fermentation: how many kilos, how many days, etc
-stirring - how often
-material used during fermentation - for example a banana lined wooden barrel is better than it being lined with a nylon sack.
-washing or not washing
-sun-drying techniques
-age of tree
-if it was harvested during a dry or rainy season
-if there is more pulp in the pod, the beans will have a more fruity taste.

Cacao beans often have a nutty, fruity or winey taste. Nutty beans have often been roasted unevenly and the shell doesn't come off as easily - the fermentation process loosens the shell. The fruity beans may have been overfermented. A bean with a winey flavour is perfectly fermented - very high-quality. Michael is definitely a chocolate sommelier!
(& I get free cacao-tasting lessons..! : )

All raw foods are like this. Have you ever noticed how one strawberry doesn't taste like the next one.. even from the same patch or box. No two tomatoes taste alike. You notice this more and more as you go raw as 1- your taste buds get more refined and 2- you tend to eat more organic flavourful foods.

I wanted to start this post with a video.. Chocosol Chronicles - 720 Experiment - made by Matthieu - my Chocosol raw buddy. However, embedding is disabled so I can only put in the link to go watch it there.
