Black Things - Tape Art, Nori, Olives

I cut my finger today.. it's still throbbing, ouch! I was cutting up some nori to put in my salad.. It was a Seasar Salad !! : ) & it was really good.. despite the hurting finger. ..reminds me of tape art. Aris made a herb salad with sliced nori and black olives at the workshop. I think I will have that tomorrow. It was really good too. I had a huge green juice - Huge! and a slice of Pizza with it.. think I'll do the same tomorrow. Mmm..
off to bed, need to rest my finger. 'Night!

'The Universe exists for the sake of the Self'

"The Universe exists for the sake of the Self." Not for what the outer world can give, not for control over objects of desire, not for the sake even of beauty or pleasure, does the Great Architect plan and build his worlds. He has filled them with objects, beautiful and pleasure-giving. the great arch of the sky above, the mountains with snow-clad peaks, the valleys soft with verdure nd fragrant with blossoms, the oceans with their vast depths, their surface now calm as a lake, now tossing in fury they all exist, not for the objects themselves, but for their value for the Self. Not for themselves because they are anything in themselves but that the purpose of the Self may be served, and His manifestatiuons made possible.

The world with all its beauty, its happiness nd suffering, its joys and pains" is planned with the uttmost ingenuity, in order that the powers of the Self may be shown forth in manifestation. From the fire-mist to the LOGOS, all exist for the sake of the Self. The lowest grain of dust, the mightiest deva in his heavenly regions, the plant that grows out of sight in the nook of a mountain, the star that shines aloft over us - all these exist in order that the fragments of the one Self, embodied in countless forms, may realize their own identity and manifest the powers of the Self through the matter that envelops them.

There is but one Self in the lowliest dust and the loftiest deva. "Mamamsaha" My portion, "a portion of My Self," says Sri Krishna, are all these Jivatmas, all these living spirits. For them the universe exists; for them the sun shines, and the waves roll, and the winds blow, and the rain falls, that the Self may know Himself as manifested in matter, as embodied in the universe."

from Yoga: The Process of Self-Unfoldment by Annie Besant
These private lectures were delivered at the 32nd Anniversary of the Theological Society held at Benares, in 1907, and were intended to give a thorough understanding of Yoga.

Have Fun Not Cooking

My friend Deepika, of Terratree (Sunza crackers), and I assisited Aris onstage at his workshop Fri evening at the Total Health Show. The Total Health Show is my fav one of the year.. esp. as it is the most raw represented. & Deepika is often called on to organize a top raw speaker and workshop. This year she got Aris to come. It was an honor to be assisting him. . The workshop was great.. so much fun. & very well attended. She said the most people since Juliano, 5 or 6 years ago.
I love Aris's thoughts and philosophy on raw, food and life. These are pics of the food onstage that he had to work with. I asked him about an hour before the workshop what he was going to make.. and he told me he would decide that when the time comes.. or something like that. ..very Jamaican laid back, but he was focused and knew his stuff (has a PhD in food science) he weaved through all the different raw philosophies, studies, gurus.. and presented his own, very back to nature, beliefs in a clear, natural and beautiful way. Really, really enjoyed listening to and working with him!

Our Raw Paths

There are as many ways of eating 'Raw' as there are people on the Earth.
Weare all so different, come from different backgrounds with different lifestyles, different experiences, different bodies, different prior ways of eating; we have treated our bodies differently and they have reacted differently.

I had a conversation about this recently. Someone said how some people eating raw foods have a worse diet than some eating cooked - for instance; a raw foodist who lives on nuts and coconut and bananas and a cooked foodist who juices.

Everyone approaches a raw food diet in a different way. You can only sustain a diet based on nuts & coconut for so long..however, what I notice is that when people gain more energy and are clear mentally, when they notice they stabilize and don't continue to feel as great, as clear, as high - most people look into it and adjust their diet.. perhaps fruitarianism, 80-10-10, juicing more.
Ultimately to feel great raw add green juices, green smoothies, sprouts & eating more lightly to your diet.

Another thing about the raw lifestyle is that it attracts 'out of the box' eccentric types.. or maybe it attracts everyone & it's me that attracts out of the box ecentric types ; )
but True, I think it does.. and artists, musicians, creative people, dancers, models, actors, people who will go the distance, do something drastic to feel stronger, have more energy. Feel more, expand their consciousness, go deeper ..explore new territory!!

A Cheers to all by beautiful raw foodist friends, raw food exporers, no matter what path you are on. Salud!!

I started out looking up T-cells, and types of white blood cells..

The Immune System - an Animation

This was "Another video I made for science class. This one explains the immune system. Features Twilight Princess, Final Fantasy XII, and a wee bit of KHII and Dirge of Cerberus."

Happy Easter - Poem for Highly Sensitive People

Here is a flower for Easter.. and it's Dew-elery : )

and a beautiful Poem for Highly Sensitive People - Erika Harris wrote this poem for her inspiring site designed to connect us deep feeling people and help us find meaning in our lives and build community - The Highly Sensitive Person's Online Guide to creating Joyful Work Best Wishes Erika!!

You are new every day.

Please don't dismiss
your brilliance
as schizophrenia.

You're not crazy, darling.

It's your grotesque habitat that is crazy.

(You know, the habitat that normalizes
blood-thirst and depravity, and then calls it "6:00 news").

Brilliance glistens and sparkles
and bounces light from many
angles, facets and dimensions.

Genius vibrates and buzzes
and reverberates many
octaves, chords and symphonies.

It's just too rich... too creamy... too dazzling
too bright... too stunning... too pristine...

to be measured
or counted
or understood by
miserly unilateral
box-worshippers.

It's okay that they don't get you.

Do you really want to be "gotten" by folks
who insist on a neat and orderly universe (which is fake)
with perfectly manicured lawns (again, fake).

You are a wild prairie.

An ocean.

A desert.

A mountain.

You transcend predictability
and homogenized conformity
and deadening mediocrity.

And that erratic wildness is the secret-sauce
that makes you glorious.

So step forward,
you outrageous creature
with the amplified nervous system...
you undeniable proof of Divinity...
you hyper-aware catcher of overlooked subtleties and nuances.

Be big. Live big. Love big.
Small just doesn't suit you.

And you know it :-)

Emerge.

Not so Random Golden Opportunities, Prized Ideas and New Friends

Look To This Day
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In Its brief course lie all the Verities and
Realities of your existence;
The Bliss of Growth;
The Glory of Action;
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And tomorrow is only a Vision:
But Today well lived makes every
Yesterday a Dream of Happiness, and
Every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well, therefore, to This Day!
~From the Sanskrit.

Pick up a permit for creative play.
Here are a few ideas:

Be surprised by happenstance combinations.
Be prepared to overhaul your attitudes.
Be steady, be thorough, be nimble.
Be fresh, be rested, pace yourself.
Be aware that good stuff also comes when you're tired.
Be open to collaborations and partnerships.
Be an eager student of your own processes.
Become a specialist and demand new quality.
Fall in love with your muse and serve her.Remember, the best second opinion comes from you.
And by all means spread the "What could be?" religion, and start by converting yourself.
~from a Robert Genn newsletter

One of the first things he did was look at a tube of toothpaste, which clearly carries the warning: “Do not swallow,” and “in case of accidental ingestion, contact the poison control center.”

The amount of fluoride they’re talking about is a quarter milligram of fluoride, contained in a pea size amount of toothpaste.

But here is the kicker, This is the same amount of fluoride you find in 8 oz of water. Yet toothpaste carries a “Do not swallow” warning, whereas you’re typically told to drink eight 8oz glasses of water each day, without any concern for the amount of fluoride you will ingest.
~from a Mercola article

Your emotion, your indicator of vibration, is indicating the ratio between your currently focused desire and any other belief or thought that you hold about same. When you feel negative emotion, anger about something, or fear... the name of the emotion does not matter, it always means that there is a desire within you that, in this moment, you are contradicting with some other thought. Your emotions are always about your relationship with your own desire, and nothing else.
Abraham Hicks - Excerpted from the workshop in El Paso, TX on Saturday, February 17th, 2001

These are the times when hopes are dashed and chaos abounds, that golden opportunities, prized ideas, and new friends emerge into the view of all, but are only seen by the few who look.

Dr Vandana Shiva

Dr. Vandana Shiva is speaking at the Total Health Show (Toronto, ON) in April 2009 on protecting our seed, food and water "Our Planet: Ecology & Conservation vs. Corporate Globalization".

Bio: Vandana Shiva is a world-renowned environmental leader and thinker. Before becoming an activist, Dr. Shiva was one of India’s leading physicists. She holds a master’s degree in the philosophy of science and a PhD in particle physics (UWO). Dr. Shiva, along with Ralph Nader and Jeremy Rifkin, is a leader in the International Forum on Globalization. Vandana Shiva has started a Seed Satyagraha - nonviolent non-cooperation around seed laws - has gotten millions of farmers to sign a pledge to break those laws.~

...And we fight on three fronts–water, food, and seed.

American farmers and cattlemen might appreciate what Gandhi fought for and what Shiva is bringing back and working for, the return of our - loss of basic freedoms.

The Seed Satyagraha is the name for the nonviolent, noncooperative movement that Dr. Shiva has organized to stand against seed monopolies.
The creative side of saving seeds, trading seeds, farming without corporate dependence–without their chemicals, without their seed

‘We will do our thing and any law that tries to say that (our freedom) is illegal… we will have to not cooperate with it. We will defend our freedoms to have access to water, access to seed, access to food, access to medicine.”
"Vandana Shiva is one of the leading anti-Monsanto people in the world." http://survivingthemiddleclasscrash.wordpress.com/2009/02/05/the-multiple-ways-monsanto-is-putting-normal-seeds-out-of-reach/

Raw Dogs

I was asking my Mom for some info about raw dogs for a friend of mine. I wonder if there might be more raw dogs than people, I keep hearing about dogs that are raw.. and who are doing amazing, of course! Here is what she wrote:

"A good book to begin with for learning about feeding dogs 'raw' is "Raw Dog Food Made Easy for You and Your Dog" by Carina Beth MacDonald. When I began, I read several books (borrowed from a friend) but this one is quite easy to read and take advice from. I feed Buddy lots of greens and veggies (chopped in food processor), deep sea fish oil and raw meat patties from Urban Carnivore plus one raw beef bone each day. I also add raw garlic and/or kelp and dulse quite regularly and a raw egg (with shell) processed with other food about once a week. Buddy likes raw fish occasionally also."
