I have been coming across lots of smoothie recipes lately..A man at work gave me his favorite..
I was a little afraid to try it because of the onion.. but I got over it & tried a version of it this morning & it's really refreshing & good. Definitely blog-worthy.
1 banana
1 onion – or you can put in garlic &/or hot pepper
1 lemon – peel & seed 1st
coconut water or just water if you don’t have
optional: avocado
I used a green onion and threw in lots of sunflower sprouts, to qualify it as a green smoothie.. and because you can never go wrong with sunflower sprouts. I put in some of the young coconut meat also.
Someone at work made this combo:
Banana, shredded coconut, a large handful of pea green sprouts & some water & blend.
It was amazingly good.
Maries secret recipe..
hope she doesn’t mind me sharing it – a secret no longer:
1-2 bananas
Handful (2T’s?) ground cacao nibs
Handful (2T’s?) goji berries
Lots (1c or so) sunflower sprouts
1 scoop hemp protein powder
1 scoop tototrienols
1-2 c water
Blend
I love this smoothie! It's amazing.
Tocotrienols make a smoothie really smooth.. and ultra healthy! Check it out here:

One of my favorite versions of green smoothies:
Fill a blender with greens – try spinach, romaine, parsley
Or my fav actually would be kale & sunflower sprouts
Add 1 cup water & pulse down to break up greens.
Add fruit:
2 bananas, 2 pears, ¼ pineapple, 2 mangoes
Blend
This is going to make an incredibly full blender of smoothies.. and you might only have room for 1 mango.. that’s ok.. just fill it up to the top.
It’s good to have lots. I always fill up a travel mug or 2 with them to have on the run later.. they stay well in the fridge for hours, actually up to 24 hrs easily, I’ve tested it. They are always better fresh.. but really not bad at all later, if kept cold.
But if you have a regular blender cut ingredients in half.. it may not be able to handle this quantity.
I could live on Green Smoothies.. I almost do!

'A few days a week, my main meal of the day is an upmarket Green Smoothie, one with frills. I blend it in the evening after work, it takes about an hour.'
This is the recipe:
- one full 12-inch tray of Living greens from my Sprouter – sunflower, or green pea shoot, or a mix of alfalfa, broccoli, etc.,
-a few large green leaves – I alternate spinach, cabbage, lettuce, or use whatever's in your country, e.g. kale, collard,
-a fibrous veggie – I alternate celery, broccoli with little stalk, or carrot, I'd use beet but it's too messy,
-a vegetable fruit – I alternate cucumber, zucchini, baby marrow or summer squash, all those little veggies that have seeds,
-2-3 sweet fruits – especially sweet South African fruits like juicy pineapple, mango, pear, and -half an avocado for smoothness.
Enjoy! ..& here's to your glowing health!

I was quite interested last week when I overheard a phone conversation, which I knowingly & obviously listened in on. It was about the life of Anne Wigmore. Now being a raw foodist for the past year and a half and as into it as I am.. you would think that I would know a little more about her than I did. To tell the truth I had a bit of a mental block.. I tried rejuvelac.. and it was awful! Worse than awful. & I know, I know she’s the mother of raw foods & all that.. but I just had taste issues, and never delved further. Although I always had a feeling I should & would one day.

I just got a new job & I started today – Toronto Sprout Corp. It was great.. except that I blew up the juicer while juicing wheatgrass. What a way to start the 1st day with a bang. It was like a missile.. literally blew off and flew right across the room.. ..but I got it temporarily fixed, enough to finish juicing. I love the energy there. & then I went & worked the evening at Seagull – my long standing part-time job, which also has great energy. & now I am tired, have to work all day tomorrow also. I was reading Zen – the path of paradox by Osho on the subway, will recall a few thoughts tomorrow.
Mom just received her books from Torkom Saraydarian.. 4 of them!
